This biennial celebration of Chinese culture will highlight the Chinese musical tradition just in time for Chinese New Year. The performance is an invitation to the community to enjoy the diverse array of Chinese music, from instrumental to operatic, from rural to ceremonial. The performance will feature genres including Chinese symphony, traditional Peking opera and modern Chinese vocal, performed by a symphonic orchestra, the Vancouver BC Chinese Music Orchestra, and guest performers from China and the San Francisco Peking Opera Troupes. Special guest performer Kai Chen, a prominent, overseas Chinese cello performer from Seattle, will perform a Chinese cello concerto and Xudong Gao, a prominent, overseas Chinese pipa and guzheng performer from Vancouver, will perform a pipa concerto, and special guest from Seattle, famous bass Cui Zhongshun will perform a solo.
